Job summary

Barking Abbey School is seeking a committed Site Officer/General Handy Person to maintain and improve the school environment across its Longbridge Road and Sandringham Road campuses. You will join a small team ensuring safety, comfort and first-class service for students, staff and visitors.

The role requires good DIY experience, tool use and a proactive approach. Hours are 7 per day, 5 days per week over 7 days, with shifts between 06:00 and 22:00. Training and CPD opportunities are offered.

• Carry out caretaking and manual handling duties as required to ensure the needs of the school are met including moving furniture, equipment, setting out of spaces around the building for example.
• Comply with the policies and procedures of the organisation regarding safeguarding and welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buildings and premises.
• Carry out maintenance tasks and practical repairs.
• Assist with caretaking duties and manual handling.
• Move furniture and set up spaces for classes and events.
• Support site security and safety checks.
• Oversee cleaning and upkeep of the school site.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies.
