Job summary

St Albans School is seeking an experienced Librarian to lead the Library as a central learning space, fostering reading, independent study and academic scholarship across the School. The role supports teaching and learning by promoting literacy and high-quality print and digital resources.

Reporting to the Assistant Head - Teaching, Learning and Innovation, the successful candidate will have degree-level qualifications and relevant experience managing a Library, with strong literacy development

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualifications in librarianship or related field.
• Experience managing a school library.
• Strong literacy development and research skills.
• Ability to support independent research projects (HPQ/EPQ).
• Chartered Librarian status or CILIP Fellowship desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop the Library as a central learning space.
• Promote literacy, reading for pleasure and independent research.
• Support teaching and learning with high-quality print and digital resources.
• Lead a small library team and manage systems and budgets.
• Collaborate with staff to enhance curriculum resources.
