Job summary

St Albans School is seeking an experienced Librarian to lead the Library as a central learning space and foster reading, independent study and academic scholarship across the School.

The role involves supporting teaching through literacy, research skills and access to high-quality resources, with a small team and budget management. 37.5 hours over five days, term time plus two weeks of School holidays.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualifications and relevant professional experience managing a Library.
• Chartered Librarian status and eligibility for Fellowship would be advantageous.
• Ability to lead a small library team and liaise with teaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of the Library as a central learning space.
• Support teaching and learning through literacy and independent research.
• Promote literacy and access to high-quality print and digital resources.
• Manage library systems and budgets; create an inclusive, academically ambitious environment.
