Job summary

John Smeaton Academy is seeking a proactive Librarian to manage the academy library, support reading for pleasure and lifelong learning, and work closely with students and staff to foster independent study and academic success. The successful candidate will have GCSE English and Maths and demonstrate strong ICT skills, excellent communication, and experience with young people in an educational setting.

Hours are 37 per week, term time only + 1 working week, with a generous benefits package

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• A passion for reading, literacy and education, with a commitment to inspiring young people to become confident readers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
• Good ICT skills and the ability to support the effective management of library resources and systems.
• Experience of working with young people in an educational setting and supporting their learning and development.
