Job summary

Holroyd Howe is recruiting a reliable General Assistant/Kitchen Porter to join the kitchen team at Rochester Independent College. This term-time role offers early starts and weekend shifts, maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment within an education setting.

You will work under a professional catering service delivering fresh meals to pupils, supporting daily kitchen operations, and helping with basic food preparation and stock deliveries.

Qualifications

• A keen interest in food and cooking, eager to learn and develop skills.
• Good attention to detail and understanding of hygiene practices.
• Team player with a positive and flexible attitude, reliable and punctual.
• Previous kitchen experience or relevant training is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to work in an education or high-profile catering environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
• Assist chefs with basic food prep and stock deliveries
• Operate dishwashers and ensure proper sanitation practices
• Follow health, safety, and hygiene regulations at all times
• Support the team in daily kitchen operations and setup for service
• Accountability for following and championing allergen controls
