Job summary

Impact Food Group is hiring a part-time Cook for Barlby High School in York. Working Monday to Friday, 27.5 hours per week during 39 weeks of the year (term time plus inset days). Salary is £15,620.83 per annum, with options for ongoing training and development, and free meals on shift.

The role supports the onsite Chef Manager and team in delivering fresh, nutritious meals to students and staff, with duties including prep, cooking, service, and maintaining hygiene standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment preferred.
• Willingness to learn and develop cooking skills.
• Positive, reliable, and team-focused attitude.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a range of meals and snacks following set menus.
• Supporting with food prep using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
• Assisting with service, including occasional counter service and till work.
• Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen and dining environment.
• Following food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures at all times.
