Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) seeks a Catering Assistant to support the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor in meal preparation and service. You will work as part of a team to maintain hygienic standards, assist with menu planning, portion control, and customer-focused service within the unit.

The role involves shared supervision of staff, stock control, and general kitchen duties. A strong kitchen background and willingness to undertake training are essential for success.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent or higher relevant qualification
• Two years’ experience of food preparation and cooking within a catering establishment
• Knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
• Willingness to undertake job related training

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of menus and portion control.
• Help ensure hygiene and safety in the kitchen including temperature recording.
• Assist in supervision of staff and share duties as required.
• Undertake stock-taking, storage and deliveries; assist in menu planning and kitchen management.
• Carry out general kitchen duties including washing up, equipment setup and cleaning.
