Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) invites applications for a Catering Assistant to support daily kitchen operations in schools. You will assist with food preparation, basic cooking, and serving meals to pupils, contributing to a hygienic, efficient catering service.

You will work as part of a team under the Catering Manager, promote good customer service, and help maintain dining areas, records, and temperature checks in line with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake job related training.
• Clear demonstration of how criteria are met on application form.
• Desirable criteria include experience in customer service or catering.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages using appropriate equipment.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks to pupils.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintaining hygiene and cleanliness of dining areas and kitchen.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes where required.
• Carrying out administrative duties and adhering to legal requirements.
