St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School in South Shields is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our catering team. This role is 10 hours per week, worked over 5 days, term time only plus 2.5 days, permanent.

You will observe health and safety regulations, assist with basic food preparation and meal service, maintain high hygiene standards in the catering areas, help with setting up dining spaces, manage portions, and encourage healthy meal choices for children. DBS checks apply.

Responsibilities

• Observing Health and Safety Regulations as directed by the Cook
• Assisting with basic food preparation and the service of meals
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained in the catering areas, including cleaning tables, washing up, brushing and mopping floors
• Assisting with the setting up and dismantling of dining furniture
• Observing correct portion sizes
• Maintaining attractive food presentation throughout all services
• Encouraging children to choose healthy meal options
• Completing temperature record forms
• Completing cleaning schedule checklists
• Reporting any deficiencies, damage or defects to equipment or supplies to the Cook
