Job summary

Vision for Education Ltd is recruiting School Catering Assistants to support busy school canteens across East Riding of Yorkshire on fixed-term assignments. You will help prepare and serve meals to pupils and staff while upholding high hygiene standards.

Candidates with kitchen experience and a Food Hygiene Level 2 qualification are encouraged to apply; this role offers regular hours across several schools and opportunities to gain educational sector experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
• Up-to-date Food Hygiene Level 2 in Catering qualification.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Reliable, flexible and positive approach to work.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude around children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of food and ingredients.
• Serving meals to pupils and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment, utensils and surfaces.
• Following food safety procedures and safe food handling practices.
• Supporting the catering team with the smooth running of the school kitchen.
• Adhering to health and safety requirements and all relevant school policies.
