Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking reliable School Catering Assistants to support busy school catering teams across Hull on fixed-term assignments. Candidates with kitchen experience will contribute to providing a positive dining experience for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities include food prep, serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and following food safety procedures. A Food Hygiene Level 2 is preferred; safeguarding checks will be completed prior to employment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or catering environment.
• Up-to-date Food Hygiene Level 2 in Catering.
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Reliable, flexible and positive approach to work.
• Good communication skills around children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of food and ingredients.
• Serve meals to pupils and staff in a friendly, professional manner.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and dining areas.
• Wash up and clean kitchen equipment, utensils and work surfaces.
• Follow food safety procedures and safe food handling practices.
• Support catering team with smooth running of the school kitchen.
• Adhere to health and safety requirements and school policies.
