Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a reliable Catering Assistant to work at a local school in Hull on a full-time, temporary basis. The role involves assisting with food preparation and service, washing up, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness in a busy school canteen.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 6:30am–2:30pm, with pay at £15 per hour and an ASAP start through Christmas 2026. Applicants must hold a valid Food Hygiene Certificate and a DBS registered on the Update Service, plus good

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and serving of food.
• Support kitchen team with daily catering duties.
• Wash up and keep kitchen equipment clean.
• Clean and sanitise kitchen surfaces, utensils and work areas.
• Ensure food hygiene and health and safety standards are maintained.
• Assist with safe storage and handling of food.
• Help with setup and clearing of dining areas.
• Provide friendly and professional service to pupils and staff.
• Follow instructions from kitchen supervisor or catering manager.

The Role

Position: Catering Assistant

Location: Hull

Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:30am - 2:30pm

Pay Rate: £15 per hour

Essential Requirements

• A valid Food Hygiene Certificate.
• A DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment is desirable.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A positive, flexible and hardworking attitude.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• The ability to work in a busy kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities
