Job summary

Vertas Group is seeking an Assistant Chef to join our Catering Team across Newark, Retford, Mansfield and Worksop. You will work 20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, 09:00 to 14:00, delivering nutritious meals and maintaining high service standards.

The role requires a positive, flexible attitude, previous catering experience is desirable, and a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering or school kitchen environments.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexible to work across multiple sites.
• Full UK driving licence is essential or access to vehicle to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

• Support preparation, cooking and serving of meals.
• Assist with day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Support stock control and ordering processes.
• Deliver good customer service to pupils, staff and visitors.
• Assist with kitchen administration and record keeping.
• Work across Newark, Retford, Mansfield and Worksop as required.
• Assist with washing up and general kitchen duties.
