Job summary

St Helens Council is seeking an IT Technician to provide first- and second-line IT support for a large secondary school. You’ll assist staff and students with Windows PCs, printers, iPads, and AV equipment, with networking knowledge a plus. Strong customer service and service-desk ownership are essential.

Hours 37 per week, salary £26,427–£26,847, and enhanced DBS disclosure. You’ll be part of a small team under the Network Manager and Senior Engineer, with flexibility to cover 8:00–17:00 as

Qualifications

  • At least one year in IT support, providing first- and second-line support.
  • Experience with Windows PCs, printers, iPads and AV equipment.
  • Basic networking knowledge and patching/troubleshooting appreciated.
  • Experience with Office 365 admin and Windows Server OS is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service and service-desk ownership and prioritisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first- and second-line IT support to staff and students.
  • Support end-user devices (PCs, printers, iPads) and AV equipment.
  • Handle service desk calls, prioritise by impact, and take ownership.
  • Work with the IT team and School ICT Team to resolve issues promptly.
