Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking two Public Health Nursing Assistants to support the Isle of Wight 0-19 Service. You will deliver NCMP screenings, hearing and vision checks, and health promotion with schools, families and carers.

Working under Specialist Community Public Health Nurses, you will collaborate with professionals to identify health needs in new school entrants and contribute to the wellbeing of children and families, including safeguarding duties.

Qualifications

• NVQ3 in Health Care or Nursery Nurse or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good computer skills and experience of Excel.
• A full driving licence and use of a car.
• Values equality, inclusion and culturally sensitive practice.
• Passion for improving public health and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Undertake NCMP screening in Reception and Year 6 in line with NCMP and Healthy Child Programme.
• Deliver universal hearing screening as per National Screening Committee recommendations.
• Deliver universal vision screening as per National Screening Committee guidance.
• Collaborate with schools to collect NCMP data and enable weight management follow-up.
• Send NCMP letters to support families in achieving a healthy weight.
• Manage workload and exercise initiative within role while safeguarding children.
