Job summary

St Leonards School in St Andrews is seeking a Grounds Assistant to join the Estates team. The role involves day-to-day grounds and gardens maintenance to the highest standards, reporting to the Estates Supervisor and ultimately to the Estates and Facilities Manager.

The post requires working with minimal supervision and adapting to changing priorities. You will execute hedge trimming, soil cultivation, lawn care, and sport pitch maintenance, including gritting in winter and pest/weed control as

Qualifications

• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
• Relevant health and safety/manual handling training desirable.
• National Certificate in Horticulture or SVQ/NVQ.
• Spraying PA1/PA6 certification.

Responsibilities

• Carry out gardening duties: hedge trimming, soil cultivation, digging, mulching, planting and leaf collection.
• Maintain lawns: cutting, feeding and spraying.
• Brush artificial grass pitch; clear litter, debris and weeds.
• Ensure fields and footpaths are clear and bin waste is emptied.
• Gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing per policy; possibly extended hours in bad weather.
• Mark sports pitches and run tracks; assist with equipment installation.
