St Leonards School in St Andrews invites applications for a Grounds Assistant who will maintain the grounds and gardens to high standards. Reporting to the Estates Supervisor, you will work as part of the Estates team to keep outdoor spaces tidy, safe and well maintained, following health and safety policies and the School's procedures.

The role requires practical gardening skills, ability to operate common machinery, and a flexible approach to weather-related duties such as gritting and snow

Qualifications

• Educated to Standard Grade/GCSE level.
• National Certificate in Horticulture or NVQ/SVQ in horticulture.
• Desirable Spraying PA1/PA6 certification.

Responsabilités

• Carry out gardening duties: hedge trimming, soil cultivation, digging, mulching, watering, weeding, edging, bed preparation and planting.
• Maintain lawns with cutting, feeding and spraying.
• Brush artificial grass pitch and clear litter, debris, weeds and moss.
• Keep playing fields, borders and paths clear of debris; empty bins regularly.
• Gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing as per policy; may require extra hours in bad weather.
• Mark pitches and sports areas; operate pitch marking equipment.
• Assist with erection/dismantling of sports equipment.
• General equipment maintenance; report defects to Estates Supervisor.
• Secure and store equipment; replenish fuel; annual painting of benches.
• Follow Health and Safety policies; report hazards promptly.
• Provide general support to Estates Manager.
