Job summary

Lift Schools is seeking an experienced Caretaker to join our team and ensure the school site remains secure, well maintained and ready for pupils and staff each day.

You will open and secure the site, perform minor repairs, health and safety checks and coordinate with facilities teams to keep buildings and grounds in prime condition. A practical, organised approach and reliable teamwork are essential for this role, including weekend and occasional call-outs as required.

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent.
• Experience in premises management, building cleaning, maintenance or building management.
• Good practical DIY and general repair skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and COSHH regulations.
• Understanding of site security and security systems.
• Ability to carry out health and safety checks and maintain records.
• Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Open, close and secure the school site.
• Act as a key holder and attend emergency call-outs.
• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance and DIY tasks.
• Keep buildings and grounds clean, tidy and well presented.
• Carry out daily and weekly health and safety checks and statutory checks.
• Maintain accurate records of checks and inspections.
• Identify maintenance issues and report larger works.
• Monitor contractors on site.
• Move furniture and deliveries as required.
• Set up areas for activities and community use.
• Support safe operation of fire and intruder alarms and other security systems.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and COSHH requirements at all times.
