Job summary

Bright Star Talent are recruiting a full-time Caretaker to join a secondary school in Skelmersdale. Working 8:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, you will maintain classrooms and communal areas, report issues, assist with moves, and ensure site security and safety throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, proactive, and able to work independently or with staff and contractors. Prior site-based maintenance experience and a valid DBS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaker, maintenance or site-based experience is preferred.
• Good practical and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Able to commit to Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm.
• Must have a DBS on the Update Service.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school.
• Ensuring classrooms, corridors, outdoor areas and communal spaces are safe and well maintained.
• Reporting any larger maintenance issues or health and safety concerns.
• Assisting with moving furniture, equipment and deliveries when required.
• Completing regular checks around the school premises.
• Helping to keep the grounds tidy and presentable.
• Supporting the school with opening and closing procedures where required.
• Ensuring the site remains safe and secure throughout the school day.
• Working closely with school staff and contractors when necessary.
• Carrying out any other general site duties required by the school.
