Job summary

Durham Trinity School and Sports College in Durham is seeking a Driver to support teaching and learning by safely transporting students and staff and by performing vehicle checks. The role forms part of our dedicated transport team and requires reliability and trustworthiness.

Working 37 hours per week, term-time only, with a schedule of 8.00am–4.00pm and 3.30pm finish on Friday, and a requirement to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily and weekly routine checks of all school minibuses to ensure they are safe and serviceable.
• Ensure minibuses have sufficient fuel for the day.
• Transport students and staff safely to venues.
• Assist with pupil supervision on trips and in the classroom.
• Keep minibuses clean and in good condition.

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and trustworthy Driver. The successful applicant will be a key member of a dedicated team supporting the excellent teaching and learning within our school.

The duties of the post will include (but not be limited to):

• Complete daily and weekly routine checks of all of the school minibuses ensuring they are in a fit and serviceable condition.
• Ensure that all school minibuses have sufficient fuel for the day.
• To transport students and staff safely to various venues.
• Assist with the supervision of pupils on school trips and in the classroom.
• Ensure that the minibuses are kept clean and in good condition.

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

• Number of teaching weeks - 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays - 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years' service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years' service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years' service:

38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years' service:

38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks' pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
