Job summary

Durham Trinity School and Sports College is seeking a reliable Driver to support teaching and learning by safely transporting students and staff in school minibuses. The role is 37 hours per week during term time, with the Governing Body aiming to start as soon as possible.

The successful candidate will perform daily and weekly checks, ensure fuel for the day, and help supervise pupils on trips and in the classroom.

37 hours per week- 8.00am-4.00pm (3.30pm Friday). Term Time Only Required to start as soon as possible.

The Governing Body are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and trustworthy Driver. The successful applicant will be a key member of a dedicated team supporting the excellent teaching and learning within our school.

Duties

• Complete daily and weekly routine checks of all of the school minibuses ensuring they are in a fit and serviceable condition.
• Ensure that all school minibuses have sufficient fuel for the day.
• To transport students and staff safely to various venues.
• Assist with the supervision of pupils on school trips and in the classroom.
• Ensure that the minibuses are kept clean and in good condition.

Pay and Leave

Standard term time only pay is calculated on the basis of the following:

• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.4 weeks (27 days) or 6.4 weeks (32 days)

Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service. Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 27 days annual leave. Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 32 days annual leave. For example:

• Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
  38 weeks (term time) + 27 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 45 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
• Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
  38 weeks (term time) + 32 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments
