Job summary

Independent SEND School is seeking a compassionate School Counsellor to join the pastoral team. You will provide direct student support, supervise other counsellors, and design wellbeing programs aligned with the school ethos.

Applicants should hold a recognised counselling/psychotherapy qualification and accreditation (e.g., BACP/UKCP). School experience and supervision skills are highly desirable, with a commitment to safeguarding and professional development.

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in counselling or psychotherapy.
• Accreditation with a professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP).
• Experience in a school setting is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in providing supervision to other counselling professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counselling sessions to students addressing academic, emotional, and social challenges.
• Offer professional supervision to fellow staff.
• Design and implement counselling programs promoting student well-being.
• Respond promptly to student crises and collaborate with staff/external agencies.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support students.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in line with ethical guidelines and school policies.
