Job summary

International Schools Today in the United Kingdom is seeking a School Counsellor to provide a confidential counselling service for primary aged pupils within the school community, working with the pastoral team.

The role will involve casework through an appointments system, liaising with the Head of Pastoral Care and Headteacher, and maintaining GDPR-compliant records with termly reports. The post requires a Diploma in Counselling and suitable accreditation.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Counselling and post-qualification experience with primary-aged children.
• BACP Accredited/Registered or equivalent accreditation.
• Training/qualification in therapeutic work with children and young people (minimum Diploma level).

Responsibilities

• Provide a confidential counselling service for primary aged pupils.
• Support pastoral team to identify and support students with emotional health needs.
• Liaise with Head of Pastoral Care and Headteacher on related issues.
• Maintain admin systems for referrals and provide termly reports while keeping GDPR-compliant records.
• Follow policies and procedures governing the counselling service and adhere to GDPR.
• Engage in professional development and external supervision per BACP guidelines.
• Ensure health and safety, equal opportunities and data protection within the role.
• Follow Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures and work with families and external agencies as needed.
