Job summary

Nonsuch High School for Girls is seeking a School Counsellor to join our pastoral care team. The post requires a Level 4 counselling qualification and experience in supporting young people within a school setting.

You will provide evidence-based mental health services and work collaboratively across the Trust to promote wellbeing. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant, supportive community with a strong focus on staff and student wellbeing, CPD prospects, and flexible leave

Qualifications

  • Level 4 Diploma in Counselling required and eligibility to register with the BACP.
  • Experience in a school setting or with young people in a counselling capacity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and deliver appropriate mental health and wellbeing services for students.
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based mental health provision.
  • Offer one-to-one emotional support to vulnerable students.
  • Promote emotional wellbeing across the school community.
  • Support and supervise Wellbeing Peer Mentors.
  • Collaborate with internal and external support services.

Key responsibilities for the role include:
  • To jointly identify and provide the right services response to a young person’s mental health and wellbeing
  • To deliver a high-quality evidence-based mental health provision
  • To support the emotional needs of vulnerable students on a one-to-one basis
  • To promote emotional well-being to the wider school community
  • To support and supervise student-based Wellbeing Peer Mentors
  • To work as a team within the internal and external support services
The successful candidate will:
  • hold at least a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling which allows you to register with the BACP
  • have experience of working in a school setting or with young people in a counselling capacity
