Job summary

Elburton Primary School is seeking a reliable Lead Cleaner to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You will lead a small cleaning team, organise daily, weekly and termly schedules and supervise tasks to high standards.

You will monitor cleaning quality, order supplies, manage stock and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures including COSHH. You may act as a key holder and provide cover during absences.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning in educational or public settings preferred.
• Basic IT for ordering supplies and communication.
• Ability to supervise a team and coordinate workloads.
• Willingness to handle out-of-hours duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Organise and undertake cleaning duties in line with daily, weekly and termly cleaning schedules.
• Supervise, support and motivate the cleaning team to maintain high standards.
• Monitor cleaning quality and ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
• Order cleaning supplies and manage stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures, including COSHH requirements.
• Act as a key holder, undertaking daily opening and locking of the school and responding to occasional out-of-hours security matters.
• Provide basic site management cover during periods of absence, including facilitating contractor access and supporting holiday lettings.
