Job summary

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School in Hastings is recruiting a part-time school cleaner to join a small team and help with after-hours coverage. You will work with another cleaner, lock up, and provide access in emergencies or during lettings.

Training will be provided to ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards and confidentiality. The role requires reliable, organised individuals who can work independently and as part of a school team, with a flexible approach to duties and term-time

Job description

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School would like to recruit a hardworking and dedicated cleaner to work in our friendly school to start as soon as possible. They will work with another cleaner and be responsible for locking up. They will also occasionally be required in the absence of the caretaker to provide out of hours and holiday access to the school.

Purpose of the Role:To provide a cleaning service in specified areas of the site.

Key tasks:

• Clean areas of the establishment in accordance with the Building Cleaning Specification as directed by the headteacher or nominee.
• Operate cleaning machinery in accordance with instructions.
• Dilute and use cleaning materials as instructed.
• Collect and remove waste/rubbish from work area to collection point as directed.
• Clean and maintain cleaning equipment as instructed.
• Observe and comply with the Health and Safety Policy and Code of Practice for cleaning staff.
• Comply with instructions relating to security and confidentiality.
• Open and close the premises and to liaise with out of hours key holders as required and if appropriate provide access, where possible, in the event of emergency situations, for contractors or for lettings.

Hours of Work: Ten hours per week Monday to Friday, 2 hours per day between 3.30pm and 7.00pm (To be agreed)52 Weeks per year. 25 days holiday to be taken outside of term time.
