Job summary

Education Authority (Northern Ireland) is seeking a Catering Assistant to support the daily operation of the catering unit under the supervision of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor. You will work as part of a team to prepare meals and maintain a clean, hygienic service for pupils.

The role involves simple cooking, serving meals, promoting meals to pupils and parents, and ensuring compliance with safety, health, and school policies.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking, including reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks including transported meals.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal.
• Maintaining regular contact with the central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables and serving points.
• Washing up, clearing away equipment and cleaning dining room and kitchen areas.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes as required.
• Carrying out duties to comply with legislation, codes of practice and school policies.
• Complete duties for jobs within competence and promote the school's values.
