Job summary

East Point Academy, Lowestoft, part of Inspiration Trust, is seeking a reliable Caretaker to maintain buildings and grounds and to ensure security and readiness for students and staff. The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year, with start date in October 2026.

You will be responsible for site security, health and safety compliance, and routine maintenance, with occasional out-of-hours duties and holiday bookings arranged with the principal.

Qualifications

• DIY skills to undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the site.
• Understanding of the principle of health and safety in an education environment.
• Ability to perform the physical tasks required by the post, including lifting, carrying and pushing various equipment.
• Ability to manage your own time effectively, demonstrate initiative and prioritise your workload.
• Previous experience working in an education setting.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the security of the premises and its contents including alarms and key holder responsibilities.
• Ensure that all utility systems such as heating, lighting, plumbing and power are working properly.
• Help maintain and operate plant and equipment according to manuals.
• Be responsible for sanitary conditions, decoration and outside duties.
• Comply with health and safety regulations and act on health and safety at work guidance.
• Be available to work or answer emergencies outside regular hours.
