Job summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a dedicated Caretaker for Christ Church Primary in Bradford-on-Avon. You will work closely with the School Business Manager to ensure the security, maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.

The role involves daily security tasks, minor repairs, safety compliance and seasonal duties. The post offers a permanent contract, 37 hours per week, and an attractive LGPS pension scheme.

Responsibilities

• Security & boundary management: joint keyholder to ensure site security and daily boundary checks.
• Routine maintenance & specialist scopes: minor repairs, basic plumbing, painting, carpentry; external contractors for major work.
• Health & safety compliance: weekly fire alarm tests, monthly emergency lighting checks, water temperature testing, routine safety inspections.
• Seasonal & operations duties: winter gritting, gutter/drain clearing, deliveries/porterage, window cleaning during holidays.
• Hygiene & core cleaning: stock cleaning materials, daily cloakroom supplies, weekly hall floor cleaning, emergency clean-ups.
• Accountability: maintain records and a schedule of daily/weekly/monthly tasks with SBM.
