Job summary

Wellspring Academy Trust is seeking a proactive Caretaker to support security, maintenance, and cleanliness of the school premises. You will help keep learning spaces running smoothly, carry out routine repairs, coordinate contractor access, and prepare spaces for events.

The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and safeguarding in an educational setting, with opportunities to work independently or as part of the Estates team.

Qualifications

• Has practical skills and experience in general maintenance or facility care.
• Demonstrates a proactive, solution-focused attitude with a high attention to detail.
• Communicates effectively with staff, contractors, and visitors.
• Can work independently using their own initiative, as well as collaboratively within a wider team.
• Understands the importance of safety, compliance, and safeguarding in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the school site and manage alarm systems.
• Carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Coordinate contractor access and supervise on-site visits.
• Set up halls for assemblies or exams and move furniture.
• Maintain grounds, paths, and play areas and ensure safety.
• Escort, monitor and supervise contractors on site in line with safeguarding procedures.
