Job summary

Mitie is seeking a School Caretaker at Pudsey Grammar School in Leeds to help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for pupils and staff. The role is part-time with 40 hours weekly at the school site.

You will undertake all required training, follow Mitie's safety policies, maintain equipment, perform portering, respond to helpdesk requests, and carry out planned preventive maintenance including fire alarm tests and emergency light checks.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking experience (preferred but not essential).
• Reliable, hardworking, and professional attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Open, honest, self-driven, and determined.
• Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality, with willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Undertake all required training and follow Mitie's Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies.
• Maintain equipment in clean, safe working order and understand all cleaning materials and chemicals used.
• Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, security, and safety of school premises and grounds.
• Respond to helpdesk jobs, unlock/lock buildings, and carry out porterage and room setups.
• Perform PPM tasks including fire alarm tests, emergency light checks, and support out-of-hours building use.
