Job summary

Polaris Education is hiring a full-time facilities and maintenance lead for a Kinver, Stourbridge site. You will maintain premises, handle routine repairs, manage cleaning staff, and ensure site security.

The role requires a proactive approach to safety and the ability to work with contractors. The successful candidate will have school maintenance experience, knowledge of health and safety regulations, and a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

• Previous property maintenance or caretaking experience in a school environment is preferred.
• Experience with building maintenance and basic DIY skills.
• Experience with security systems and alarm systems preferred.
• Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Strong literacy and numeracy abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills when dealing with contractors and visitors.
• Ability to work effectively with children and young people with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and secure school premises including buildings and grounds.
• Carry out cleaning, routine maintenance, refurbishment, and minor repairs.
• Supervise cleaning staff and promote health and safety across the site.
• Carry out porterage duties and move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Conduct regular checks of CCTV, alarm systems, locks, and safety equipment.
• Arrange larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors.
• Close out the day by ensuring windows, doors, lights, gas and electricals are off.
