TEEM Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a Handsworth-based part-time, temporary role (20 hours/week, 2:30 pm–6:30 pm, Monday–Friday).

The role covers security, maintenance, cleaning supervision and general site duties to keep the school premises safe and ready for pupils and staff. Responsibilities

• Secure and lock the school premises at the end of each day.

• Supervise cleaning staff and contractors when required.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of buildings and grounds.
• Manage recycling, cleaning supplies and lost property.
• Undertake security and keyholder duties, including alarm responses.
• Assist visitors, contractors, parking arrangements and school events.
• Carry out post runs and other general duties as required.

The Role

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking and practical School Caretaker to help maintain the school site, ensuring that the premises are safe, secure, clean and ready for pupils and staff each day.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for general caretaking duties, basic maintenance, site security and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the school premises.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Secure and lock the school premises at the end of each day.
• Carry out general caretaking, routine maintenance and site safety checks.

• Supervise cleaning staff and contractors, as required.

• Assist with visitors, contractors, parking arrangements and school events.
• Carry out post runs and other general duties as required.

Essential Requirements

The successful candidate must have:

• Previous experience in caretaking, premises management or a similar role; school experience would be an advantage.
• A current Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undertake the appropriate check, subject to the school’s recruitment requirements.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures and basic maintenance.
• An understanding of health and safety requirements and safeguarding responsibilities.
• The ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks effectively.
• A calm, flexible, reliable and professional approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
