REED is seeking a dedicated School Caretaker for a school near Chigwell, East London. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, welcoming environment and supporting daily school operations, with a hands-on approach to repairs and safety tasks.

Key duties include securing the site, safety checks, minor repairs, coordinating contractors, and providing porterage and cleaning support to ensure smooth school functioning.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaker or maintenance roles.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handyman duties.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
• Reliable, punctual and capable of working independently.
• Good problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure site, set the alarm.
• Conduct weekly fire alarm checks and safety inspections.
• Perform general repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Unblock sinks, fix doors/windows, and handle hardware tasks.
• Paint and decorate as needed and replace fixtures.
• Coordinate with contractors on site and oversee work.
• Provide porterage and move furniture around the building.
• P litter picking, cleaning and restocking supplies.
• Maintain school grounds and carry out other duties as required.
