Job summary

Meridian Business Support Ltd is seeking a reliable Caretaker with an Enhanced DBS for a school site in Heywood. The role involves general maintenance, minor repairs, plumbing tasks, porterage and site security during term-time hours 10:00am–6:00pm (and 8:00am–4:00pm during holidays).

You will be a keyholder, perform daily health and safety checks, report issues to the Site/Business Manager, and help prepare the premises for events. Immediate start; DBS required. Pay is £13.70–£13.92 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS and be able to work to health and safety standards.
• Reliable, responsible and punctual with a practical hands-on approach.
• Ability to carry out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Good communication skills and ability to work with school staff.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs around the school site.
• Undertake minor repairs and practical tasks, including putting up boards, fixing items and other general maintenance duties.
• Unblock toilets and deal with routine plumbing and drainage issues.
• Carry out drain clearing and other basic site maintenance as required.
• Undertake porterage duties, including moving furniture, equipment and deliveries safely around the school.
• Carry out litter picking and emptying of bins across the school site.
• Complete daily and weekly health and safety checks as required.
• Report any hazards, defects, damage or maintenance issues to the Site Manager or Business Manager.
• Assist with maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.
• Support the Site Manager with the preparation and organisation of the school premises for events and activities.
• Act as a keyholder and assist with opening and securing the school premises when required.
• Respond to maintenance and site-related requests from the Site Manager and/or Business Manager.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the effective running of the school site.
