Job summary

Old Moat in Manchester is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to manage the school premises. The role covers maintenance and security to ensure a safe working environment, with split am/pm shifts and year-round duties.

You will act as main key holder, supervise cleaners, perform routine inspections, and coordinate repairs and tests, including fire alarms, while maintaining proper records. A can-do attitude and practical trade skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous proven experience in a similar environment.
• Motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude.
• General maintenance skills; trade skills preferred.
• Proven experience in lone working and problem solving.
• Good level of speaking, reading and writing English.

Responsibilities

• Main Key holder.
• Supervision of cleaning staff.
• Routine inspections of the building.
• Maintenance schedule including painting, decorating, repairs, plumbing, carpentry.
• Repairing defects and arranging specialist help when required.
• Carrying out tests (fire alarm, water, etc) and maintaining records.
