Overview

Empowering Learning Teesside are working with a school based in Darlington who are looking for a School Caretaker to work at a secondary school in Darlington. The role is suitable for immediate start and may continue beyond September. Salary is 90-115 per day.

Role: School Caretaker

Location: Darlington

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver maintenance and health and safety related to the School's buildings and grounds, including maintenance, security and facilities management on the school premises and site to ensure a safe environment for staff, pupils and visitors.
  • Supervise a team of premises and cleaning staff; assist with recruitment and selection, induction of new staff, workload allocation, training and performance management.
  • Ensure security is maintained, including management and maintenance of security systems; keep common areas clean and tidy.
  • Manage administrative matters related to the building and staff; work with the Managing Agent and provide a written building report every fourteen days.
  • Monitor contractor presence and supervise their activities to minimise disturbance; sign off and record all works.
  • Perform routine checks of the building (fire alarms, sensors, fire doors) and undertake minor maintenance tasks.
Requirements
  • Experience in general DIY, cleaning and maintenance; strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work strategically with staff and manage health and safety.
Contract and Benefits
