Job summary

Penrose Learning Trust's Claydon Campus in Ipswich is seeking a proactive School Caretaker to help maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment. The role covers 37 hours per week across 52 weeks, with rotating shifts and responsibilities including repairs oversight, safety records, and keeping the campus secure.

You will work with a dedicated estates team, receive training and support to develop technical skills, and contribute to a positive school experience for pupils and staff.

Qualifications

  • Experience in building maintenance or facilities care is desirable.
  • Ability to work safely and follow health and safety procedures.
  • Commitment to supporting a positive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the campus and oversee repairs and external contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and keep records up to date.
  • Support school events, manage waste systems, and ensure the campus is secure and welcoming.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive ongoing school-wide improvements.

Your role and impact
You will:
  • maintain the campus: Manage ongoing repairs and oversee external contractors to keep our facilities in top shape
  • prioritise safety: Ensure we are fully compliant with all Health and Safety regulations and keep crucial safety records meticulous and up to date
  • support the community: Assist with exciting school events, manage waste systems, and ensure the campus is secure and welcoming
  • drive improvement: Work collaboratively with fantastic colleagues to support sustained, school-wide improvement.
