Job summary

Esher Church of England High School is seeking an Apprentice Caretaker to join the premises team. The role is 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, fixed term pending apprenticeship completion, with hours Mon-Fri 06:30–19:30 and flexibility for school events.

Salary £25,319 with 26 days leave rising to 30 days after 5 years. You will work toward Level 2 or Level 3 in Facilities Operation and Management while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the school's premises to ensure a safe, clean and well-presented environment.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the site and assist with school events.
  • Work flexibly within the 06:30–19:30 window and participate in the premises team.
  • Progress through the apprenticeship toward Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Facilities Operation and Management.

Working Monday to Friday and hours to be within 06:30 to 19:30. Standard hours to be agreed but flexibility required to vary start and finish times and occasionally work later into the evening to support school events.
Salary PS3 £25,319
26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days annual leave after 5 years’ service

This fixed-term apprenticeship provides the opportunity to work towards a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Facilities Operation and Management, while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive school environment.
