Job summary

The Roving Bookshop in Leicester is seeking a flexible part-time Delivery Driver/Stock Handler to support our mobile bookshop program. You will drive a medium van to schools nationwide, unload stock, and set up displays for events with children and staff.

This role combines physical work, customer-facing retail tasks, and simple admin. A clean UK driving licence is required, with potential overnight stays for long-distance events and World Book Day busy periods.

Qualifications

• Essential physical fitness to load/unload heavy book stock.
• Confident driving a medium van with a clean UK licence.
• Flexibility to start early and stay late for events.
• Willingness to stay overnight for long-distance events and World Book Day periods.
• Ability to work independently and set up displays at different schools.
• Enhanced DBS check required or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Drive a medium van to schools across the country.
• Load and unload heavy trolleys containing book stock.
• Erect up to 54 display cases and set up the mobile bookshop.
• Sell to children and interact with teachers and staff.
• Manage stock, take payments, and perform simple admin tasks.
