Job summary

The Roving Bookshop is seeking a flexible delivery driver to join their small team. Based in Leicester but travelling to venues nationwide, you will load/unload stock, erect displays, and sell to children at school events. Expect varied days, early starts, and potential overnight stays for long-distance events.

Ideal candidates are physically fit, comfortable with driving a medium van, and able to work with teachers and children. DBS clearance will be required.

Qualifications

• Physical strength to load/unload up to ~1 tonne of books on trolleys, and heavy lifting to erect book displays.
• Confidence driving a medium van and clean UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to start early and finish late, including paid overnight stays for long distance events.
• Flexibility to work extra events during school term time (World Book Day).
• Ability to work independently and set up displays in different school environments.
• Friendly communication style with teachers and children.
• Ability to obtain an enhanced DBS check (we work in schools and are committed to safeguarding).
• Desirable: An interest in children’s books; familiarity with POS computers.

Responsibilities

• Drive a medium van to schools across the country
• Load and unload heavy trolleys containing book stock
• Erect up to 54 display cases and set up the mobile bookshop
• Sell to children and interact with school staff throughout the day
• Manage stock, take payments, and do simple admin
