Job summary

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar seeks an Itinerant ASN Support Worker for Lewis Schools. 27.5 hours/week during term time, fixed to 27 June 2027. Salary £22,792–£24,624, including Distant Islands Allowance. Role involves educational, behavioural and care support for children with complex needs across settings.

The post requires PVG clearance, driving license, and ability to work with various establishments. Closing date 9 November 2026.

Qualifications

• Understanding of child development and factors affecting behaviour, learning and development.
• Good communication skills interacting with children, parents and staff.
• Experience with children who have severe/profound learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.
• Training in behaviour management, autism and challenging behaviour; CALM, TEACH, Manual Handling, ABA.

Responsibilities

• Provide educational, behavioural and care support in schools/pre-schools/alternative settings for children with complex needs.
• Duties vary by establishment; support pupils with educational work and routines.
• Assist pupils with intimate care and in designing Behaviour Management Programmes.
• Provide support to pupils as outlined in their Health Care Plan.
