Job summary

Myatt Garden School is seeking a proactive School Admin Assistant to support the Business Support Team in delivering essential administrative functions. You will handle reception tasks, assist with diary management and communications, and help ensure high-quality documentation and school branding.

You will work closely with staff, pupils and parents, providing excellent customer service and safeguarding awareness while using MIS tools to manage records and communications.

Qualifications

  • Experience providing administrative support in a busy office environment.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and effective communication, on the phone and in person.
  • Experience providing personal assistant support to senior staff.
  • Experience managing multiple diaries and coordinating meetings.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience of working in a school office and using school MIS (ScholarPack/SIMS/Arbor).
  • Knowledge of Data Protection procedures and handling personal data securely.
  • Ability to produce documents of high quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults and work as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated initiative, proactivity and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with staff, pupils, parents and external agencies.

Responsibilities

  • The Business Support Team implements admin functions key to the school's operational success.
  • The admin assistant shapes first impressions of the school with prospective parents, pupils and visitors.
  • The role supports safeguarding commitments; DBS checks and references will be required for appointment.

Job description

What skills and experience we're looking for
  • Effective use of ICT Packages (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Workspace etc.)
  • Experience of providing administrative support in a busy office
  • Use of relevant equipment/resources
  • Experience of providing excellent customer service, negotiation and communication skills, both on the telephone and in person
  • Experience providing personal assistant support to senior staff
  • Experience managing multiple diaries and coordinating meetings
  • Knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • Experience of working in a school office
  • Experience of using school MIS (e.g. ScholarPack, SIMS, Arbor etc.)
  • Have knowledge of Data Protection procedures and how to handle personal and sensitive information
  • Experience in managing website content and social media for an organisation
  • Ability to produce documents of a high quality
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding school roles and responsibilities and your own position within these
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to staff, pupils, parents, carers and external agencies
  • Ability to identify own training and development needs and co-operate with means to address these
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate an ability to use own initiative and be proactive
