Job summary

Southern Housing seeks a compassionate Scheme Housing Officer to support residents in Independent Living, Sheltered, Extra Care and Over 55s schemes. You will be the visible face of Southern Housing, managing two or more schemes and helping residents live safely, independently and confidently.

Regular travel between schemes across Southwark and regional offices is required, with occasional meetings outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in care, support or housing services.
• Understanding of relevant legislation and good practice.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

About The Role

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient Scheme Housing Officer to support residents living in our Independent Living, Sheltered, Extra Care and Over 55s schemes. You'll be the visible face of Southern Housing, managing two or more schemes and helping residents live safely, independently and with confidence. You'll build strong relationships, provide responsive housing management, resolve issues quickly, and work with colleagues and partner agencies to deliver excellent resident outcomes.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. Regular travel between schemes across Southwark and regional offices is required, with occasional attendance at meetings outside normal working hours.

About you

You’re resident focused, calm under pressure and comfortable working independently for much of the time. You enjoy being visible and present within a community setting and are confident managing sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

You will need:

• Experience working in care, support or housing related services, with an understanding of relevant legislation and good practice
• An understanding of the diverse needs of older people and the ability to provide appropriate support and signposting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively face to face, by phone and in writing
• Experience delivering excellent customer care and responding to complaints professionally
• The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively and prioritise competing demands
• A proactive, solution focused approach, with good negotiation and influencing skills
• Confidence using IT and mobile technology to maintain records, manage systems and support residents to use digital services
• A commitment to continuous improvement, learning and personal development
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Flexibility to travel across schemes and work extended hours where required to manage emergencies
