Job summary

CBSbutler is seeking an experienced Senior Scala Data Engineer for a 6-month contract in London with hybrid working. The role focuses on secure, high-availability backend services and APIs to support fraud detection and data integrity.

Candidates should have active SC Clearance and strong Scala, Play Framework, AWS, SQL, CI and Agile experience. The team uses CI, and familiarity with Docker, Kibana, Grafana and Airflow is a plus.

Senior Scala Data Engineer - 6 Month Contract Location: London - Hybrid Duration: 6 months Rate: £530 - £580 per day insideIR35 Clearance: SC Clearance required

We are seeking an experienced Senior Scala Data Engineer with active SC Clearance to join a team developing secure, high-volume and highly available backend services and APIs supporting fraud detection and data integrity.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, secure and low-latency backend services.
• Develop clean, testable Scala code and REST APIs.
• Work with databases and AWS services.
• Improve and modernise existing applications and services.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts and data engineers.
• Support production services and contribute to incident resolution.
• Work within an Agile & Continuous Integration.
