QualityAI, formerly Qualitest, is seeking a SC-cleared Senior Test Automation Engineer to join a Digital Assurance & Productivity team supporting a leading UK bank. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated testing solutions and frameworks across multiple platforms.
You will work closely with developers, analysts and business stakeholders in an Agile environment, integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and driving the automation strategy and tooling
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
- Proficiency with Selenium, Karate, SOAP UI or Postman.
- Programming/scripting in Python or Java or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD and version control (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Experience in Agile environments and with BDD (Cucumber).
- Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities

QualityAI is looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join a Digital Assurance & Productivity team supporting a leading UK banking organisation.
The role will focus on designing, developing and maintaining automated testing solutions and frameworks, helping to improve test coverage, quality and delivery across a range of technology platforms.
You’ll work closely with developers, analysts and business stakeholders within an Agile environment, integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and contributing to the ongoing improvement of the organisation’s automation strategy and tooling.
- Design, develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Work with developers, analysts and business stakeholders to define appropriate test coverage.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures and investigate defects.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of automation frameworks, tools and processes.
- Support the implementation of effective testing strategies across applications and services.
- Identify opportunities to improve automation coverage, efficiency and reliability.
- Maintain clear documentation around test automation, frameworks and processes.
- Work collaboratively within an Agile delivery environment.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across the wider testing and quality engineering function.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
- Hands‑on experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
- Experience with tools such as:
- Selenium
- Karate

- Experience working within an Agile environment.
- Familiarity with Cucumber / BDD.

- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with some of the following would be highly beneficial:
- Cloud platforms, particularly Azure.
- Test data management/tools.
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Performance testing.
- Security testing.
- API and integration testing.
- Automated regression testing and framework development.
- Knowledge of Kafka, IBM MQ or ACE.
- Understanding of middleware and message queuing technologies.
- Knowledge of software architecture technologies such as XBRL and HTML.
- Previous experience within banking or financial services.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and financial systems.
- ISEB Intermediate qualification or equivalent practical experience.
The role is available in Leeds or London and operates on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to work from the office approximately 50% of the time.
The organisation supports flexible working arrangements, including flexibility around start and finish times and how office attendance is managed across the month.
