Job summary

SC ENGINEERING in Derby is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to develop engineering solutions using Siemens NX. This is a hands‑on role, focusing on design development and rigorous review through the full lifecycle.

The position is office based in Derby with a 12‑month contract and a pay rate of £40–£44 per hour, Outside IR35. Prior Rolls-Royce experience is advantageous, and SC Clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design engineering background.
• Experience taking designs through formal design reviews.
• Ability to work from system and technical requirements.
• Provide engineering input beyond drawings.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design and development using Siemens NX.
• Develop solutions from initial requirements to final design.
• Take modifications through full design review and approval process.
• Interpret and work from system and technical requirements.
• Produce and develop robust engineering designs.
• Carry out design calculations and engineering assessments.
• Collaborate with systems, manufacturing and wider engineering teams.
• Support technical and design reviews.
• Ensure designs comply with standards and project requirements.
• Manage design changes throughout the lifecycle.
