Job summary

Experis - ManpowerGroup is seeking a hands-on FPGA and embedded Linux expert to design, integrate and verify high-performance hardware and software components. The role sitsHybrid in London/Bristol as required, with a daily rate up to £650 outside IR35 for a 6-month duration.

You will lead design and verification at the boundary of silicon and systems, ensuring throughput, latency and power targets are met, and you'll work with cross-functional teams to optimise hardware/software partitions.

Qualifications

• Commercial FPGA design experience.
• Experience with Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC architectures.
• Yocto (BitBake) or PetaLinux experience for building Linux distributions.
• C/C++ for Linux kernel-space driver work and HAL development.
• Strong debugging and verification skills across hardware/software.
• Ability to work at silicon–systems boundary and optimize throughput, latency, power.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and verify FPGA IP modules, DSP pipelines and high-speed interfaces using VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
• Lead SoC hardware/software co-design by configuring and integrating the PS/PL on Zynq MPSoC using AXI interfaces.
• Build, maintain and customise embedded Linux components including BSPs, device trees, U-Boot and kernel images using Yocto/PetaLinux.
• Develop low-level Linux device drivers, kernel modules, and bare-metal/FreeRTOS drivers to connect application software with custom hardware IP.
• Carry out board bring-up, debugging and system verification using logic analysers, oscilloscopes and Vivado ILA.
• Contribute to system-level architecture decisions across throughput, latency, power budgets, and hardware-vs-software partitioning.
