Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is hiring a DBA Specialist (SC Cleared) for a defence programme focused on critical national security and public sector operations. The role is based onsite in Leicester or Hursley and involves managing large-scale database platforms, performance tuning, backups, security, and high availability.

You will work with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB, and contribute to automation, on-call support, and disaster recovery within secure environments.

Qualifications

• DBA experience across multiple DBMS platforms including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL or MongoDB.
• Expertise in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with high availability, replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience in Linux and Windows environments.
• Scripting and automation with PowerShell; Ansible knowledge is highly desirable.
• Exposure to cloud database services, Apache Tomcat, JVM, and NetApp technologies is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Database administration across enterprise environments.
• Performance tuning and optimization of database platforms.
• Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Security management and access control for databases.
• Ensure high availability and resilience of data services.
• Drive automation and operational improvements.
• Participate in paid on-call rota for P1/P2 incidents.
