Job summary

Client is seeking an experienced DBA Specialist to support critical database environments, ensuring performance, availability, and security of key systems. The role includes design, implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of database solutions in a high-security production setting.

Onsite in Leicester or Hursley five days per week with an on-call rota for P1/P2 incidents and additional compensation. Strong skills in SQL, tuning, backups, DR, and PowerShell are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or DBA Specialist.
• Strong knowledge of database concepts, architecture, and best practices.
• Experience with backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
• Scripting experience, particularly PowerShell.
• Ability to work in high-pressure production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain database schemas, tables, indexes, and stored procedures.
• Monitor and optimise database performance across critical environments.
• Perform database administration activities including backups, restores, patching, and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and incidents.
• Implement and support database security and access controls.
• Manage replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Support database scalability and resilience initiatives.
• Contribute to automation and operational improvements.
